About Our Club

Friendship Force Ottawa (FFO) is the largest of the 22 Canadian clubs, and with about 80 members, one of the largest in the world. Our main focus is journeys, we host up to three inbound and three outbound journeys each year with up to 20 ambassadors per journey. Note: 'Ambassadors' are Friendship Force members participating in a journey.

Volunteering to home host visitors from other clubs, and helping organize one-of-a-kind Canadian and local experiences not available to regular tourists, gives our club members and their visitors an opportunity to build a new level of understanding of each other’s cultures.

Traveling to places we’ve never been, and living with and like locals for a week, offers our club ambassadors exciting personal and group encounters organized by local clubs. These outbound journeys help promote cultural education, understanding, and citizen diplomacy, which continue to develop upon returning home through the international friendships we’ve made.

FFO is also about local friendships, with an extensive program of social activities as described on our Social page.

FFO has a francophone sister club in the National Capital Region who would like to extend the following invitation:

Aimeriez-vous recevoir des gens d’un autre pays et leur faire découvrir votre culture? Si oui, venez en apprendre davantage sur la Force de l’amitié qui compte plus de 350 clubs dans le monde dont un club francophone dans la région de la capitale canadienne. En collaboration avec Retraite en action (REA), nous donnerons une présentation gratuite mardi, le 28 janvier, à 13h, au Patro d’Ottawa, 40 rue Cobourg. Il y a du stationnement gratuit sur place. Les membres de REA doivent s’inscrire sur le site de REA, activité 410-11H. Les non-membres peuvent s’inscrire en écrivant à vprecrutement@hotmail.com.
